In Home Euthanasia

In-home euthanasia, otherwise known as at-home euthanasia or housecall euthanasia, is a process where you are able to have your pet euthanized in the comfort of your own home. This spares you and your pet from the complications and stress involved in having to leave your home to travel to a clinic. Click here to see the process I use when I conduct in home euthanasia.

Many owners have told me that they consider at-home euthanasia to be a more humane way to euthanize their pet. One reason is they feel their pet sometimes has memories of prior appointments at your veterinarian’s clinic where they may have had to undergo uncomfortable prodding and/or procedures. Remember, just like humans, animals can remember past experiences.

At home euthanasia differs from traditional clinic based euthanasia in many ways. For example, at home euthanasia allows you to control the environment much more than if you and your pet go to the veterinary clinic.

List of ways at home euthanasia can be tailored:

Unlike clinic based euthanasia, at home euthanasia allows you to choose…

The date and time for the euthanasia

Whether it is indoor or outdoor so you can choose a place you and your pet will be the most comfortable

The exact indoor or outdoor spot since there may be a special place that will best honor the relationship

The type of music, candles or other accessories you desire

Any special toys, blankets or other comforting items that your pet loves which are like sacred symbols of your bond

In summary, at home euthanasia allows you to totally customize the atmosphere to you and your pet’s most cherished preferences.

"I can’t begin to say enough nice things about Dr. Miller, her demeanor and her professionalism. My beloved cat Van was in the final stages of debilitating malignant thyroid tumors that left him unable to eat and drink in his final days. Dr. Miller’s service of coming to the house to help Van peacefully pass was a relief. Dr. Miller’s comforting actions with Van and her reassurances to me helped make what was already a horrific experience as bearable as possible under the circumstances."
