Aftercare Options

There are a few decisions you need to make regarding how you want your pets body and remains to be handled.

One decision you need to make is whether you want to respectfully bury your pet at home in your yard, or if you want them to be humanely cremated. If you want your pet to be buried at home then once the euthanasia process is completed I will leave your home only after I have answered all of your questions and comforted you. You are then free to do what you wish with your pet’s body. Some people bury their pet on their own property as a way to honor the relationship. That allows you to create an above ground memorial for your pet as well.

You can look online for the hundreds of different ways pet owners have created memorials on their property. Here is a link to a Pinterest article offering you a very creative set of options.

If you want to have your pet cremated, there are three options.

Option #1

One option is no ashes are returned to the owners. In this case you are still able to purchase a clay paw print from the Lasting Paws crematorium that I use.  They offer 5 star service! I have developed a long term and trusted relationship with them. I would only use a crematorium that I would have my own pets cremated at.

Option #2

A second option is where your pet will be cremated in a distinguishable space within a larger crematorium setting. In this instance there will be a physical barrier between your pet and the other pets being cremated. This prevents your pet’s remains being mixed with other animals. You will then be able to receive the ashes for your pet. Ashes will typically be returned in a cedar box and a clay paw print will be included with the return.

Option #3

A third option is a completely private cremation is where your pet will be cremated by themselves in the crematorium.

I can explain more about these options if you want to give me a call. They maintain very high quality control over the handling of every single pet I have had them handle.

"I can’t begin to say enough nice things about Dr. Miller, her demeanor and her professionalism. My beloved cat Van was in the final stages of debilitating malignant thyroid tumors that left him unable to eat and drink in his final days. Dr. Miller’s service of coming to the house to help Van peacefully pass was a relief. Dr. Miller’s comforting actions with Van and her reassurances to me helped make what was already a horrific experience as bearable as possible under the circumstances."
